First Game!

I played my first 6th edition game against Inquisitor Dunn yesterday. I really liked the game now, it was just a weird feeling playing things differently (Hull Points, Overwatch, Random Charge Distance, etc). It was eventually starting to make sense after a few turns, but it was still a little slow having to look up rules every few minutes for random stuff, but fun overall. I won by getting a bunch of the secondary objectives early in the game. We played 1000 points of Space Marines each, Purge the Alien with a Vanguard Strike deployment. All I have to say is: I'm still not going to premeasure...

Book on the Way!

After a long wait and several shipping delays, my rulebook is finally going to arrive. I can't wait to sit down and read the whole thing, cover to cover, just like I did with the 5th edition rulebook. I'm so happy that GW FINALLY got around to getting it to me. Only a week and a half after I ordered it. I'm glad that I paid for the "express" shipping. Anyone else having issues getting their merchandise lately?

Games Played

Today I got a game in with my Tyranids. I like playing them, I just need some more so I can stop trying to load up my Hive Tyrant with so many points, if I lose him, I'm screwed. I'm thinking a few more Zoanthropes, 3 will be nice. I could still run one as the Doom of Malan'tai and have some more Synapse coverage on the battlefield. Mycetic Spores for my units would be cool as well. I just need to be right in my opponent's face right away.

Today's game was Capture and Control, Dawn of War. My HQ and 2 Troops to start with were a Tyranid Prime attached to a 5 Warrior brood with Deathspitters and a Barbed Strangler, and 9 Scything Talon Genestealers with a Broodlord. They were pretty much directly at the half table point to start and were assaulting the 50 man Imperial Guard infantry squad with Commissar Yarrick the first turn. It was super brutal and killy. The Guard ended up destroying all of my guys by turn 4. I did have a lot of trouble bringing my 2 10-Genestealer broods onto the table outflanking, because of Blake's Master of the Fleet. It made me have a -1 to my reserve rolls (countered by my Hive Commander rule) and made me re-roll my table side die with the outflank. 25 Hormagaunts and 10 Genestealers ended up on the wrong side of the table and got obliterated by a Demolisher Cannon and lots of Heavy Flamers.

All in all, we ended up tying with the game ending on turn 5. It was super brutal and awesome to play my Tyranids, and hopefully get a lot of experience with them playing in our campaign this summer. HUZZAH!

Bugeater GT

Well, I went 1-0-5 at the tourney. Not to say that wasn't expected for my first Grand Tournament. I will always try to get better and will for sure be going back next year. It was good times with good people. Next year I'll have to bring more money though, because there is only so much you can do in a big town when you are really short on cash. Here are some pictures of the event.

My first opponent's Space Wolves army. Got a chance to Psychic Hood a lot of his sneaky Rune Priest powers.
My second opponent's Orks. He had 2 Deff Dreads, 2 3-Killa Kan squadrons, 2 Big Meks, and a bunch of Boyz.
Picture of some Thunderwolf Cavalry that I liked (sorry if some of the pics are kind of blurry).
 Eldar
 Dark Eldar
Blake Duysen's Imperial Guard. I've fought these guys quite a bit.
Blake's Lord Commisar with a bunch of Guardsmen and some Leman Russ battle tanks.
My fourth opponent's Tyranids. Just a picture of his Hive Tyrant and 2 Trygons, but they just look wonderful.
Clint Beaver's Fire Ants Space Marine army.
 Some beautifully painted Blood Angels.
A nice Necron army and display board.
Josh Dunn's Crimson Fists with his Lysander and Vulkan counts as models.
 Crazy cool Dark Eldar.
Nice little mechanized Imperial Guard army.
Some Grey Knights. I didn't get to play against any Grey Knights at the tournament myself, but I wanted to see how long I would last against them.

I also got a chance to play a small little practice game against Zach Walter and his Squats army at the hotel room. He was running them as Grey Knights so I learned a little bit about they're tricky little rules. It was also my first time moving models on a table in over 2 weeks, so it was good to get back into the swing of things. I also coined the gameplay style "Floorty K", in which we would play a full game on the floor. We never got a chance to play, but brought up playing it all weekend.

Predators Recovering

I finally got the magnets to work on my turrets. They ended up looking pretty bad, but I can rig them up to look decent for the tournament this weekend. I have all kinds of packing to do yet tonight. Quit my job tonight so I will have all kinds of time to hobby it up while finding a new job. Warhammer Away!

Bugeater GT

Well, a few more days until the Bugeater GT in Omaha. I'm pretty stoked to run my Predators, but only one issue... I kinda destroyed my turrets tonight. Stupid magnetization attempts. All my buddies say it's easy, but I can assure you... it isn't. I've completely mangled both of my turrets. Hopefully I can get it figure out before Friday. Wish me luck.

Started Blogging

Taking a lesson from my gaming buddy, Inquisitor Dunn and starting a 40k blog. I will probably just update people on my army progresses and games played. The next big thing on the schedule is preparing for the Bugeater GT in Omaha, Nebraska coming up in June. I have my Space Marine 1850 point list written up and ready to submit to them. I'm running Captain Lysander and a Librarian with Gates of Infinity and Force Dome, purely a defensive Librarian. For Troops I am running two 10 man Tactical Squads with Meltaguns, Lascannons, and CC Sergeants, and 1 5 man Scout Squad with 3 Snipers, 1 Heavy Bolter, a Sniper Sergeant, and Camo Cloaks. Elites: 10 man Terminator Squad with 2 Cyclone Missile Launchers, and an Ironclad Dreadnought with DCCW with Heavy Flamer and a Seismic Hammer with Meltagun. Heavy Support: 2 Predators with Lascannon Sponsons and Pintle Storm Bolters, and a 5 man Devastator Squad with 4 Missile Launchers and a Storm Bolter Sergeant. Running a Drop Pod for a Dedicated Transport for my Ironclad. And that's about it. My Tyranid army is going to have to go on the back burner, while I play this list out and see how well it does.
